Take a scenic one hour drive , passing sugar cane fields, up to the foothills of Mt. Kanlaon. Visit the 4 waterfalls around the area, Buslugan, Oro, Abaga and Twin falls. Take a dip into the natural pools and feel refreshed after your trek. Walking through this protected rainforest will make you work up a big appetite, so relax and take a picnic lunch beside the natural pool. Leave Bacolod City at 630am and be back by 3-4 pm. Lots of time to get a massage and have a chicken inasal dinner after.
Mt. Kanlaon is the the highest peak in central Philippines and is considered a sacred mountain. Faith healers and spiritualists come and visit to renew their source of power every Holy Week (March or April of every year). It is the home of 200 species of flora, the warty pig, spotted deer, hornbills and parakeets.. Mt. Kanlaon covers almost 25,000 hectares of land, and links 6 towns and cities in Negros. It has caves, lagoons, rivers, waterfalls and hot springs. It was proclaimed as a national park in 1997.
